It’s our differences that connect us
The difference of perspectives, backgrounds, experiences, and identities among us is what must ultimately bring us together. Instead of dividing us, our differences provide opportunities for learning, growth, and forming deeper connections. By embracing and appreciating these differences, we can build stronger relationships, finding common ground through mutual respect and understanding. They should not separate us, our differences should be a force to connect us.
It's our connections that help to fulfil our passion
San Kara describes his artwork as a fusion of colour, line and passion. His pieces are created through a combination of hand-drawn digital sketches or scanned line drawings from his sketchbook. By traversing the realms of Pop, Street, Expressionist, Fauvist, and Colour Field art, Kara's work pushes the boundaries of artistic genres, critics describing him as a disruptor! He invites viewers to explore the interplay of sensual energy, colour, harmony and conflict, using comic strip lines as barriers against chaos.
Each artwork is a Reflection of itself, encapsulating five different interpretations that range from the ordinary to the bizarre. Through the interplay of colour applied to unchanging line work, generating a spectrum of shifting moods, Kara asks you to find your own Reflection.
… And why five? To synchronise with the five fundamental elements of our world; earth, wind, fire, water and aether.
After completing his studies at Central St. Martins in design, Kara worked as a creative for Saatchi & Saatchi. Eventually, he established his own design agency with branches in both London and his country of birth, Sri Lanka. Now he has returned to his true artistic drive, thriving in the exploration of colour, line, passion and aether.
San Kara’s artwork has been shown in the UK and across Europe; At Soho House Members Club in the UK, Art UNFair in Milan, Montecarlo Art Fair, French Art Fair in Paris and at the Spain Art Fair in Barcelona. His artwork is also available to view at the Saatchi Art and Artsy.
